Filed under Flying | Comment (0)I’ll dedicate my life to being a pilot
The aviation industry is where I want to be in. Career-wise that is.
I made a huge mistake by not following through with what I wanted to do since I was small. I listened to the wrong people and I took advice from people who don’t even know me that well.
And now I’m in a pathway that is murky and foggy.
One factor probably was because I was not being vocal about it. I kept quiet. Well, I’m vowing not to be that person anymore. I’ll start being vocal about my passion alright. And if people don’t like it, well, honestly, they can F off.
I’ve got a lot of things that I want to achieve such as having my own private investment company/syndicate as well as owning my own business one day but one thing for sure, flying takes precedence. The day I’ll stop working from achieving what I want to achieve is the day that I die.
Filed under Flying | Comments (3)CPL/IR and ATPL as my Postgraduate Studies
There are a few who asked me why am I embarking on my flight training and aren’t I too old for it.
Well, to me, it makes a lot of sense. For one, I love everything about flying and the aviation industry. Secondly, there’s no such thing as being too old to achieve your dreams. Plus, I’m only 23 right now.
There were also those few who asked me, what’s the use of my accounting degree then?
My explanation is usually this. Not only do I want to fly, I would also like to be involved in the management side of things. Not only that, I plan to have my own business one day. At least, I have some background in business and not just the technical side of things.
Also, to put that into perspective, you’d see others doing Masters and PhDs as part of their postgraduate studies. Well, I see CPL/IR + ATPL as my Masters studies. For others who asked whether I’ll be doing any postgraduate studies after my bachelor’s degree, indeed I am.
For those who do not know:
CPL = Commercial Pilot’s License
IR = Instrument Rating
ATPL = Airline Transport Pilot’s License

Filed under Flying | Comments (4)Thank you sir for giving me hope again
Sometimes, unexpected things may happen. Sometimes, the magnitude of a simple gesture is enough to inject motivation into my soul again.
A few days ago, something really great happened. A man from faraway land had given me hope again. You know who you are sir. I can’t thank you enough. It probably was nothing but it was indeed of value to me. Believe it or not, getting into that company is something that I have been aiming for.
Again, thanks for giving me the chance to at least try (I know I have repeated this many many times).
One thing for sure is that I’ll work bloody damn hard if I get in. If everything goes well and I’m able to join your ranks, who knows, I might be sitting to your right one day. It would truly be an honour sir. Thank you.
Filed under Flying | Comments (4)I want to be a pilot, thus the reason why I want to stay in Australia.
One of the deciding factors of whether I’ll be returning to Malaysia or staying in Australia is this. Which will give me a much better chance in pursuing my lifelong dream of becoming a pilot. This entry is with the assumption that I can’t get into any cadet pilot programs.
Here’s the situation. In Malaysia, it’ll cost me around RM250,000 for a 2-year-plus CPL + ATPL program. In Australia, it’ll cost me around AUD80,000 for the same program, plus the Flying Instructors’ course.
Imagine if I save a couple of thousand per month (if I’m lucky) in either countries and in their respective currencies, how long will it take? Earning AUD4,000 and save till AUD80,000 seems to be much closer than earning RM4,000 (again if I’m lucky) and saving for RM250,000.
If there’s a way for me to do my flying licence in Malaysia within the next couple of years, then I’ll gladly return to Malaysia, that’s for sure. However, I’m still figuring out that “one” way.
I’m still aiming for the cadet pilot programs though… God I hope I’ll get accepted into one. I don’t think anybody else is more obsessed (in a good way of course) about this than myself.
Filed under Australia or Malaysia?, Flying | Comments (17)Etihad Airways! Why have you forsaken me??
I was planning to go to Sydney for an interview with Etihad Airways this June. I wanted to try getting a spot in their Cadet Pilot Program.
Suddenly, there’s no more information about taking foreigners as their cadet pilots on their website. I assume, they’re not doing that anywmore. Hopefully not permanently.
What timing huh?
Why have you forsaken me Etihad Airways…
