The New Nikon D5000 (As good as the more expensive Nikon D90?)
The camera giant, Nikon, has introduced another product in its line-up. It’s called the Nikon D5000. Arguably matching the performance of the Nikon D90, the Nikon D5000 replaces the ageing Nikon D40.

Just a quick round-up of the specifications:
- 12.3 Megapixels CMOS Sensor
- Able to capture HD videos

- 11 AF points
- 4 FPS frame rate
- Ultrasonic sensor cleaner

- Default ISO 200 ~ 3200 but expandable to 100 ~ 6400.
The camera should be available around late April 2009.
So, anybody out there planning to get one?

I enjoy looking at patterns. That is why I like abstract photography. Meaningless junk to the next person might actually mean something to me.
A couple of weeks ago, I did a mini project of my own codenamed Project Smoke. Nothing big, nothing fancy. Just trying my luck photographing smoke trails.

Brisbane Night Sky Photography Shots with Nikon D80
Alright folks, here are more Brisbane Night Sky photos snapped with my newly acquired Nikon D80. It is not from Mount Coot-tha (previous post). The photos were taken from the balcony of my friend’s.
Equipments used were the Nikon D80, a tripod, and a variety of lenses (the usual).

Here are a number of night photography shots taken with Nikon D80, using various manual and semi-manual settings. The photos were shot atop Mount Coot-tha in Queensland, Australia.
Lenses used were the 18-55mm lens and the 70-300mm lens. A tripod was also used for all the shots.
I know I know, most of the shots are horrible. But hey, I’ve got a good excuse. I’m just starting out! ;)
Also, apologies if I’m using the wrong photography terms. Still getting the hang of all the jargons.
1. Shutter priority, 30 seconds. ISO 800.

After two years of deciding which digital camera to go for, I finally acquired my very own digital single-lens reflex (SLR) camera. Previously, it was all about hand me downs, but this one is pretty special. I paid for it with my own money. So, yeah, I’m pretty stoked!
