Under Attack by a virus called “XP ANTIVIRUS 2008″ (How I got rid of it)
While surfing a webpage, all of a sudden, my firewall automatically turned off, and my wallpaper suddenly changed to a picture displaying “your computer has been infected by ’so and so’ virus.”
I tried to revert back to my old wallpaper, but that option wasn’t available to me.
I tried to google my problem but I couldn’t get anywhere. I was instead forwarded to random websites (browser hijacks???).
My reaction was, “oh shit, what now…”

Asus Eee PC: How to change to Advanced Mode (Full Desktop Mode)

Here are some updates of my Asus Eee PC.
Well, first of all, as expected, it is very easy to use. Linux is serving me pretty well so far!
Also, very portable. I hardly realised that I’ve got it in my bag. In between classes (or in the classes :P ), I just pop out the Asus Eee PC, connect to the on-campus wireless network, and voilà, I’m on the web.
CFD Trading on my Asus Eee PC was okay. I’d prefer to use my standard 15.4″ laptop with external monitor, but when I don’t have access to the mentioned gadgets, Asus Eee PC has become a life saviour.
Running my online trading platform, is it slow? Surprisingly, no.
Just that, hardware-wise, I have to say, the standard 512MB RAM can be rather limiting. Running multiple programs at the same time can be frustrating. Of course, I can’t upgrade my RAM due to the fact that if I open the RAM bay, I’ll void the warranty. WTF Asus!!!
Another thing, the trackpad. My goodness, a nightmare! Not because it is small. The size is fine. Just that, there’s a bit of a problem with using the double-tapping feature. Quite a number of times, the trackpad won’t register that you have just double-tapped. So, I opted for the wireless notebook mouse instead. Much handier.

University, Work, and Asus Eee PC
A new semester begins this week. Yeah, pretty boring. I know. Lucky for me though, this semester, I’ll be having a 3-day work week and 4-day weekend. Woohoo! That means, only 3 day of classes (about 3 to 4 hours a day on those days) and no classes on the remaining 4 days! Too bad for my mates in Psychology and Engineering ;) Hehe.
In line with the new semester, I have a new resolution. The resolution is to do consistent work towards my academic duties. To pre-read lecture materials, to revise afterwards, to read textbooks, etc. etc. Some of the things that I have failed to do during my time in uni so far. It’s a wonder that I’m still here. Oh, by the way, I am 100% sure that that resolution is going down the drain this time as well. Hehe.
Anyway, you might be wondering about what the title is all about. Asus Eee PC. What the heck is that you ask?
Well, it is this tiny lil’ computer that I bought yesterday.
Purpose? Well, I have been a Contract-for-Difference (CFD) trader for some time now. Most of the time during the week, I need computer and internet access. Previously, I have been carrying my awfully heavy laptop around campus. Too much hassle. So, I decided to get this Asus Eee PC. It weighs less than 1 kilogramme (0.92 kilogramme to be exact) and it has almost everything that I need to make my CFD trading activities a tad simpler.
