Anyway, I’m returning to Malaysia for good in a couple of weeks time. I have to settle a lot of things before I go back. Cancel my broadband, home phone, mobile, electricity, sell my car, give away unwanted things, ship my things to Malaysia, and many more. Again, malas.

So folks, what’s new with Malaysia?

Shouldn’t one aim to enjoy life as best as they can and do things that they love, which in this case, after retirement? Shouldn’t one aim to at least maintain the lifestyle before retirement?

Perhaps, it’s the view of financial planners from the previous generation and frankly, I don’t buy it.

I’ve decided recently to take an R&R for a little while. Situations have changed and will change even further in the next few months. Hence, I need to re-evaluate my position and make a few changes to my trading plan and objectives.

Well, I just realised than it’s been a while since I last updated my blog. I’ve been pretty much a slacker really. Too lazy to do anything.

So, what’s new?

1. I can’t believe that I’m able to say this but I’m finally in my last semester. If everything goes well, I’ll be done with my Bachelor of Accounting by end of February next year. Graduation will be in May however.

2. As usual, it’s a pretty boring and ordinary semester.

3. My partner-in-crime has returned to Malaysia, which was pretty heartbreaking.

4. I’ve finished reading a couple of books recently. The first was Dan Brown’s Lost Symbol. As usual, a page-turner. Just that I was pretty disappointed with the ending. My reaction was, “All these happened because of that????”. Second book was Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight. The book was alright, but I’m totally in love with Alice Cullen! Haha. Now, I’m reading Nicholas Sparks’ The Last Song.

5. Been playing a lot of Evony lately. For those who don’t know, it’s a game with the racy ads that you see across the internet with corny taglines. Any Evony players out there??

6. Been pretty demotivated with…. well…. life generally… Don’t feel like doing anything at all at the moment.

Alright, that’s all for now.

Oh, by the way, Selamat Hari Raya Aidiladha to those who are celebrating!

I read an article about what you should do when you win the lottery. It was written by a well-known financial planner based here in Brisbane.

Now, setting aside the lottery part, just imagine ourselves in that position. What would you do if you were to receive $1 million dollar tomorrow?

If it was me, perhaps I would:

- Leave the money in FD-like accounts until I graduate.
- After graduation, I’d take out some to pay for my CPL/IR and Flight Instructor Rating Course.
- At the same time, acquire some investment properties and also set up a share portfolio.

It sure is nice to daydream huh? :D

Blogging your way to financial freedom. Is it really possible? Personally, I’m rather sceptical. Unless you’re giving full-time attention to it and have a vast network of blogs and websites, then it’s hard I reckon. It’s possible, but it’s hard.

Being a blogger is just another job. You can create some side income with it like what Kenny Sia and a few others have done but I doubt that one can classify that as a passive income. It’s not really an investment-like venture. The reason is that if one neglects his blog, not much money can be made. Also, a lot of efforts need to be put to market your blog. Blogging professionally is more business-like I think.

The thing about blog however is that you don’t need a high amount of capital to get in. With Blogspot for example, it’s free! You’re also not required to build an asset base to derive income from, unless of course you’d consider the presence of your blog itself as an asset (brand, domain name, copyrights, and etc.).

How do you make money from blogs? One way is through advertising. There are programs like Google Adsense, Adbrite (
), Bidvertiser (Monetize your Website or Blog with BidVertiser), and Nuffnang for that purpose.

Some people also earn money through affiliation programs or even sell items directly from their blogs. I havent’s ventured into these yet but I might in the near future.

So, in a nutshell, making money through blogging is definitely possible but to make some serious money through this field takes massive hardwork.

Have a look at this interesting article here .
