One thing about Malaysia is the variety of food she offers. Malay food, Chinese food, Indian food, Mamak food. The list goes on.
Spending my holidays in Malaysia, I have embarked on a self-fulfilling journey. I call it, the Fattening-Up-for-University-Hell Program.
The program is simple really. Eat. That’s it. Eat.
A couple of days ago, I patronised this Indian restaurant called Thurkah’s Restaurant located at Taman Melawati, KL. I think, the last time I ate there was a couple of years ago. I highly recommend this place.
What did I have?
Nasi Daun Pisang of course!
Below’s a picture of the food. For those who do not know what Nasi Daun Pisang actually is (if you’re Malaysian and you do not know what a Nasi Daun Pisang is, lucutkanlah kewarganegaraan anda :P), rice, and a few vegetable dishes are served on a daun pisang (banana leaf). You can also order extras like mutton curry, fried chicken, and etc.
I’m telling you, It’s absolutely delicious! Not to mention cheap as well. Less than AUD1!
After you’re done, it’s a custom to flip the daun pisang (banana leaf) inwards (i.e. facing you). This is to show that you have enjoyed the meal.

Besar bezanya antara nasi daun pisang dgn nasi lemak. Nasi daun pisang ni makanan orang India. Nasi lemak makanan orang melayu. Nasi lemak ni yang orang makan dengan sambal ikan bilis tu. Tapi, kadang-kadang, ada juga orang ‘serve’ nasi lemak atas daun pisang.
