My Blog is 3 months old and I’m back in Brisvegas!

January 28th, 2008

Wow, it’s been a while since I have last updated my blog. Been kind of busy lately.

Anyway, I returned to Australia a few days ago. My flight was on the evening of 23rd January. I arrived on the 24th. As usual, it was a pretty boring and frustrating flight. Nothing to do on board the Air Asia’s D7 2702. Did a bit of reading and most of the time, was trying to sleep. I wonder how some people can just doze off and not wake up for hours!

While the cabin crews were serving the food, I heard some pretty interesting conversation between them. There’s this gal named ‘R‘, she said to the other crew..

“Yang, yang…. I ada bonus question untuk you…”

“Tadi, ada passenger tanya I.. Ni coffee I serve ni instant ke..”

“Dia orang ni… Mesti lah instant… Mana ada masa nak brew coffee masa masa macam sekarang ni..”

Hehe. Ada masa pulak kutuk passengers!

I thought of snapping a few photos/videos on board the aircraft, but due to my frustration and boredom, I couldn’t be bothered.

So, I’ll post up a few photos I took in Malaysia. For now, all photos of food. Hehe.

First up, some satay.

Satay

Next, KFC’s XL Burger. Pretty large, though the meat inside, penipu! :P

My favourite. My mum’s Mee Goreng. Just can’t get enough of this.

Secret Recipe’s Chocolate Banana Cake… Drool….

Chocolate Banana

Some Middle Eastern sweets that my mum’s friend bought in Dubai. Not too bad actually.

Dubai Sweets

Last but not least…. Mummy’s Sambal Terung….. Naaaaaaaaaak…… Just that you can’t eat too much of these. You’re going to get a lot of gas. Eat a lot and there you go, you’ll fart all night. Hehe.

Sambal Terung

Upon arrival, the customs and immigration went rather smoothly. My Ikan Bilis, Maggi, and Udang Kering got through (Phew, thank goodness).

This time around, it’ll be my first time taking public transport from Gold Coast all the way to Brisbane. My God it was a long journey. I think we got out of the airport terminal at around 8 o’clock and I got home around 11.30. Yeah, more than 3 hours.

First, we had to take the airport shuttle to the nearest local bus stop. Then take a local bus to the railway station. Amazingly, it took about an hour to get to the railway station. The train trip from Gold Coast to Brisbane also took more than an hour. Arriving in Brisbane, I then took another bus, heading home.

However, the best thing was, the total fare from the airport to my house was only… wait for it…. AUD6.50!!! Yeah, just one ticket that cost me AUD6.50. Yes, it did take more than 3 hours but nothing can beat paying only AUD6.50! If you rent a car, it’ll cost you around AUD70 to more than AUD100 for a compact car. If you had taken a taxi, I bet it’s going to cost you hundreds of dollars. So, for AUD6.50, nothing beats that!

On another matter, my blog celebrated her 3 months anniversary 7 days ago! Woohoo!

As you have noticed, I have not really gone into too much details on strategies I have employed and will employ to achieve my target of financial freedom. Well, I plan to maintain this blog for years to come, so, it is befitting that I do not release everything too early! :)

If I write everything now, then there’s no point for people to frequent my blog anymore ;)

I also have some plans to ramp up the quality of my blog.

So, bear with me, be patient and do visit this blog more often! :)

I’d also appreciate if you could give me some feedbacks and suggestions through the contact page.

Till next time folks.

Oh, before that, just thought of sharing a really nice song. Foundations by Kate Nash. Amir, you’re going to love the accent. Hahaha.

    Hey Sting :)

    Thanks for the wish.

Tu la, kalau nak kutuk, pergi la kat belakang. Ni, masa tgh serve makanan. Hahaha.

It felt like just yesterday I went back to Malaysia. Haih…

Food supply.. hmm… it depends really. Some will last less than a month (like Maggi). Some will last a few months (ikan bilis, udang kering, seasonings, etc.)

    hi nadlique,

    what a nice blog.
anyway, are you working or studying at australia.
tell us lar, what’s nice about australia. how much you earn per month on salary? what field you’re involving now?

  7. Ashcroft on February 2, 2008 12:46 am

bloody good song that one was…hahaha…got one question for you,i heard there’s a bus direct from the airport to roma street. Betulkah?

  8. nadlique on February 2, 2008 1:13 am

    @Klanglar

    Thanks Klanglar.

I’m studying in Australia at the moment but I trade stocks and other financial instruments pretty much full time at the moment.

How much I earn? Haha, sikit sikit la.

    @Ashcroft

Bus direct from Gold Coast airport to Roma Street? Ya kah? Tak tahu pun. Dekat information counter tu, the lady told me that to get to Brisbane, you have to go through the bus-and-train-to-Brisbane routine.

  9. Klanglar on February 2, 2008 9:11 pm

    nadlique,
stock trade ok ka? kalau aku switching terus dalam super fund u rasa ok? long-term ok kot

eh, roma street’s station sudah fully upgraded ka?

  10. nadlique on February 2, 2008 10:08 pm

    Hi Klanglar,

To be honest with you, I do not dare to advise people on investing/trading in stocks on their own. Mainly because doing it on your own involves a lot of discipline, patience, and hard work. Serious hard work I might add.

I think it’s better if you read a lot of investing/trading books first, then perhaps experiment a lil’ bit, then see how it goes.

Romat Street station? Tak sure la, dah lama tak pergi.

So, Klanglar, are you staying here in Brisbane?

  11. Klanglar on February 2, 2008 10:38 pm

    nad,
last year i was in southbank(what a lovely place)
rindu jugak la bila dah tak tinggal kat brisbane.

  12. nadlique on February 2, 2008 11:52 pm

I see. Buat apa kat sini? Kerja atau study?

You still maintain your super fund ke?

  13. Klanglar on February 3, 2008 6:40 pm

  14. nadlique on February 4, 2008 8:05 am

    Ok :)

Yeah, all over the world pun jatuh. In fact, my unit trust pun jatuh teruk.

By the way, kenapa tak withdraw the money and bring them back to Malaysia?

  15. klanglar on February 4, 2008 11:51 am

    Hi Nadlique,

have you tried any online investment so far? do u have any comment on this?

  17. shumi on February 8, 2008 9:49 pm

what is ur field of study yea? r u doing masters?

  18. nadlique on February 11, 2008 2:28 am

    Hi Shumi,

    Welcome to my blog! :)

I’m doing undergrad accounting at the moment. Used to be doing law and accounting but decided to drop law.

Online investment in what sense? You mean the HYIP type? Swisscash? Or the usual FOREX, online share trading, and etc.

  19. shumi on February 11, 2008 3:09 am

The online share trading lar… have u tried? I really want to learn to trade FOREX!

  20. nadlique on February 11, 2008 3:13 am

Haha. I thought you were talking about Swisscash :P

Yup, I am currently trading shares and FOREX online.

  21. shumi on February 11, 2008 3:52 am

So how’s it going? How did you start to trade Forex? What is your current trading platform

  22. shumi on February 11, 2008 3:57 am

I wonder why all people mostly join this swisscash? Do u have any info on that?

  23. nadlique on February 11, 2008 11:22 am

I think the first reason why people joined swisscash was because of lack of financial education. They regard swisscash as a legitimate investment vehicle when it is not.

Second, because of the get-rick-quick mentality. They are blinded by the prospect of earning 3% per day from their money, not knowing that 90% of the get-rich-quick-schemes’ “investors” lose money. Remember, higher potential returns equal higher risks.

  24. nadlique on February 11, 2008 11:32 am

I actually trade stocks and FOREX in the form of a financial derivative called Contract for Difference (CFD). So, I don’t use the usual stockbroker or FOREX broker. I use a CFD broker and platform. The thing is, CFD is still not available in Malaysia.

Also, CFD is a leveraged instrument, which means that you can lose more than what you have. So, I really don’t recommend people starting out dive straight into CFD. The same thing goes to FOREX. Starting small is fine to get some experience first, but never ever commit all you savings into these things upfront.

In terms of how I am doing, well, not too bad actually. Returns from my CFD trading is much better than my unit trust investment. Hehe :P

Anyway, have a look at an article of CFD.

  25. shumi on February 12, 2008 3:32 pm

Nadlique, I have another Q la. How did you start your website yea? Is it hard to create one?

  26. nadlique on February 13, 2008 6:10 pm

It’s actually not that hard to create a blog. At first, it was pretty confusing. Sampai berpeluh peluh rasa mcm nak baling komputer ni. Haha. After a while, you’ll get the hang of it.

There’s actually two ways of creating a blog. The paid one or the free one. Right now I’m using the paid one. I get my own web address (www.nadlique.com). I’m currently using Wordpress as my blogging platform. There are tonnes of other platforms out there. Wordpress, Blogger (Blogspot), Blogdrive, Typepad, and etc. All has its own advantages and disadvantages. However, I am satisfied with wordpress.

By the way, if you want your own web address, go here:

    Hehe. Saja nak advertise ;)

How was your Air asia flight, thinking of doing the same trip as you. Just wanting to make sure the drop in price doesnt mean a drop in quality.

  28. Jean on May 22, 2008 5:34 am

    Nadlique

Are you using wordpress.com or wordpress.org? I am using .com version and finding it’s feature very limited. I know org require hosting service. Want to do my business?

  29. nadlique on May 26, 2008 11:14 pm

    @James

To me, considering Air Asia is a low-cost carrier (LCC), it was just as I expected. It wasn’t too bad. A lot of folks took the flight with the expectation that it’ll be as good as a full-service airline.

The seats were fine, lavatories work, food ok, flight crew service also fine. So, all in all, no complaints from my part.

    @Jean

    Will contact you by e-mail.
