What’s turning me off from applying for a PR in Australia?

What’s turning me off from applying for PR in Australia?

Just a few points:

1. It takes a long time to actually get an answer on whether or not you get your PR. During the waiting period, it’ll be very hard to get a permanent/full-time employment anywhere.

2. You need to work in your nominated industry for a certain period of time. God knows I’m not too keen in being in the accounting profession. I was actually contemplating jobs related to the finance industry (trading, financial planning, and etc.) before proceeding to flying.

3. Unless you get a good-paying job, things can be rather expensive over here.

During an economic crisis, is it wise to invest in education? (Studying Financial Planning & Journalism)

With the exception of all the trouble we have faced in the past couple of years, I consider myself lucky to be facing such a severe financial crisis at an early age. Why? Well, I am able to at least learn a thing or two that may assist me in my future endeavours.

Anyway, setting that aside, let’s talk about investing in education. By that, I mean, furthering your academic qualifications as well as skills.

I have read quite a few articles supporting the notion of expanding your knowledge and skills during this troubled times, and I have to say, I am in full support of that idea.

Apart from university, I am also doing a couple of courses by distance education. One is Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning) and the other is Certificate of Professional Freelance Journalism.

When the economic crisis bites, ego still prevails

Talking about the economic crisis, here’s a true story that I want to share with you.

Junior (Not real name) owns three cars. Not three kancils, but three luxury cars. When the economy was good, he had no problems whatsoever in paying off his car loans and maintaining those cars. He was living a good life.

However, recently, he got conned by a bunch of folks. Also, his business was not doing well anymore due to the bad economy. He was struggling.

Unemployment exists in Australia? Huh? Really?

I was talking to a person the other day and he asked me about my plans after graduation. I then replied:

“Oh, perhaps I’ll return to Malaysia after uni. Maybe I won’t apply for the permanent residency. You know, it seems really hard to get a job in Australia these days. Even Rio Tinto (a mining company) laid off hundreds of their people a few days ago. Unemployment rate is well through the roof right now. I don’t think I’ll be able to get a job here”.

To which he replied:

“Huh?? Unemployment exists in Australia??”.

I was gobsmacked…….

Moral of the story: Watch more TV 🙂

The end.

Mengikut Dr. Mahathir, Ekonomi Dunia Makin Tenat (Malaysia Kini)

Read the article here.

According to Dr. Mahathir, the world’s economy is worsening day by day. Things are getting from bad to worse. He also said that Malaysia will be affected, whether we like it or not.

My opinion: Indeed, I don’t think we’re out of the shits just yet. One by one, giant companies are falling like flies. Bad news are announced consistently.

For the past couple of weeks however, things might seemed to be stabilising a little bit but I am still skeptical. Some experts are saying that a base is forming in the stock market, but I’m still not convinced. I still think that the bears are still in control. Boy oh boy I hope I’m wrong.

Costs of running a car in Australia (Should I call Australia or Malaysia as home?)

I only have an experience with running the car as stated below. As such, I will resort to using figures based on that car.

Costs of running a car in Malaysia (Should I call Australia or Malaysia as home?)

In making the decision to either continue on staying in Australia or return to Malaysia, I have got to consider a number of things. One of them is to look at the costs of running and maintaining a car in both countries.

In this instance, we’ll look at a Proton Saga 1.3. As I have no experience whatsoever in maintaining a car in Malaysia, I have to use a lot of assumptions here. So, if you have much more accurate figures, do share with all of us yeah?
