Why do I like to blog about money?

Why do I like to blog about money? Because it has been an interesting journey in itself!

Here are some other reasons:

1. I want to be financially free and wealthy one day.

2. Learn from people. For example, about ASB’s maximum amount. I didn’t know about this before.

3. Improve my writings. Even if my writings may be construed as a little informal, it does give me some practice.

4.Get inputs from people. People might not agree with me but if everything is kept civilised, I’m fine with it. After all, it was said that “Perbezaan pendapat adalah satu rahmat.” Sometimes, before I write, it forces me to do more research (through the net, through the books, through people) to improve the accuracy of my writings (although sometimes, I have to admit that accuracy is a tad compromised).

5. My arguments may be weak but I believe by writing more and more about it, I will be able to improve.

6. Share my ideas with the world (even though sometimes people may not agree and can viciously attack me through e-mails and comments).

7. Perhaps blogging could boost my confidence a little bit? Give me the courage to share ideas with people?

Nadlique and Stock Trading

One of my biggest passions is the financial market. The financial market gives me joy and satisfaction.

Similar to photography and flying, I was interested in shares since I was a kid. I didn’t understand a thing about shares of course but I was intrigued nevertheless. I did try to ask my father about it but I didn’t really grasp the full understanding of what shares were all about.

Often, I kept on insisting my dad to buy some shares for me but those requests were always responded by “Nak beli ada duit ke?”. Hehe πŸ˜›

Retirement: Nadlique’s Point of View

You see, the main aim of this blog is to document my journey towards financial freedom.

The thing is, what is financial freedom to me? Does it mean that once I’m financially free, I can retire, quit my job, and spend my days relaxing on the beach? Well, no.

Who reads my blog?

Sometimes, I wonder how many people actually pay attention to my blog and who are these people.

It also scares me to death that there are a lot of professionals and intellectual people out there who may have stumbled upon this blog πŸ˜›

Entah apa dia orang fikir agaknya.

Apparently, after my blog came out in The Malay Mail (link), my dad also reads my blog now. Adoi.. sekarang kena banyak censorship la πŸ˜€

Pa, if you are reading this, may I redirect you to this entry here. << tekan sini πŸ˜‰

One thing for sure is that I try my best to voice out my ideas and thoughts. Kalau korang tak suka, peduli apa. Bukannya korang kenal aku pun πŸ˜‰

Anyway, just out of curiosity, do write in the comments section about who you are and where you come from.

Where do I stand now? Financially speaking of course.

I’ve been blogging about financial freedom for nearly 2 years now. I’ve started my journey towards financial freedom for even longer than that. So, where do I stand now, financially speaking?

Trading

I’ve been trading stocks and CFDs for nearly 4 years. I’ve been able to stay profitable for all these years, and hopefully for a very long time.

I’ve reduced my trading stake due to the lack of certainty we’re having right now. I’ve already reinvested quite a significant proportion of my profits into a new business venture.

So far, for the past few months, my trading account has been advancing, but very very slowly. Snail pace.

When should I start investing? When should I launch my business?

Being young and inexperienced, I always get criticised when I talk about investment and business. Well, that’s to be expected of course. After all, how much knowledge can a 22-year-old have?

Often am I told things like:

  • “Why are you worrying about this so early, you’re still young”
  • “Come on lah, you’re still in university. Think about this after you graduate lah.”
  • “Focus on university first. Then only care about other things.”
  • “You’re still in university. Focus on that. And then work for a few years first, then only talk about starting your own business.”

Getting to know the person behind Nadlique’s Blog of Financial Freedom

A good friend of mine did a quiz and posted the results on his blog. I thought it was interesting and did the quiz as well. The quiz requires you to answer a number of questions and out comes a simple analysis about yourself.

Anyway, here’s one about myself:
