Two prominent figures of the business world passed away this morning. These two, though from different nations and background, shared the same passion throughout their lives, which was to succeed. One is Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong of Malaysia, who was the founder of Genting Group and another one John Ilhan of Australia, the founder of Crazy John’s. They were 90 and 42 respectively.
Noticing their big age difference, I thought to myself, it doesn’t really matter how old you are, how healthy you are, or how much wealth do you have. If it’s your time, then it’s your time. Succeeding in life is one thing but succeeding in the life after death is another. As a muslim, I try my best to live up to the old Muslim adage “Work for your world as if you are going to live forever and work for your hereafter as if you are going to die tomorrow.”
