How to Solve WordPress 2.6 Problems (404 Error Message)

WordPress 2.6 was recently released. This morning, after backing up my blog contents, I decided to upgrade my WordPress 2.5.1 to WordPress 2.6.

After a successful attempt at upgrading, I tried clicking on links and posts on my blog. Crap… Problems… The main page of my website was alright but upon clicking posts and etc., the 404 Error Message came up.

What have I done??????

I tried disabling and enabling the plugins, tried doing this and that, but nothing seems to work.

Tried to scout for answers on WordPress forums, but unfortunately, everything sounds like garbage to me.

Tried to find a way to revert back to WordPress 2.5.1 but couldn’t figure out how to do it.

After over an hour and neck-level frustration, I tried to google for more answer.

Aha!

Somebody said, “this sounds like a permalink issue”.

So, in my case, the problem was solved by:

1. In your WordPress Dashboard, go to SETTINGS.
2. Click PERMALINKS.
3. Change the COMMON SETTINGS back to DEFAULT.
4. Now try navigating around your website.
5. If problem has been solved, you may now change the COMMON SETTINGS to anything you like.

If the problem is still unsolved, sorry, I can’t help you!

Peace folks!
