In making the decision to either continue on staying in Australia or return to Malaysia, I have got to consider a number of things. One of them is to look at the costs of running and maintaining a car in both countries.
In this instance, we’ll look at a Proton Saga 1.3. As I have no experience whatsoever in maintaining a car in Malaysia, I have to use a lot of assumptions here. So, if you have much more accurate figures, do share with all of us yeah?
Type of car: Proton Saga 1.3 Manual Transmission (Metallic) M-Line
Price of car: RM 38,998.00 (According to Proton Edar’s Website)
Road tax: RM70.00 per year (Autoworld)
Insurance: RM1,200 per year (Autoworld)
Petrol:RM200 per month
Servicing: RM400 per year
Repairs: Set aside RM2,000 per year for those once in a blue moon repairs. (Do you reckon it’s enough or is it too much?)
The post about the costs of running a car in Australia will be up in a few days.
